#7 Eating Donuts

Last week a friend invited me to a special brunch at LUCK Dallas which stands for Local Urban Brewery Kitchen. The idea behind the special brunch was to pair different brews with donut flavors. The plate came with 4 shots (just a small sample of the beer) in the order of their corresponding donut flavors:

  • Passion Fruit Donut – Four Bullets Brewery
    • Beer Description: Northern English Brown with hints of caramel and a easy finish
  • Chocolate Butterscotch Donut – Cedar Creek Brewery Fisticuffs Barleywine
    • Beer Description: Dark, full bodied, roasty, and malty with a silky mouthfeel. Slightly sweet with a nutty flavor.
  • Red Velvet Donut – TUPPS Brewery Full Grown Man Imperial Stout
    • Beer Description: This robust yet drinkable stout is brewed with obscene amounts of dark roasted malts. This full flavored bad boy gives off dark stone fruit and tobacco notes
  • Rose White Chocolate Ganache Donut – Oak Highlands Brewery Chump Change Imperial Black Saison
    • Beer Description: German Dunkelweizen (dark wheat) style ale. Heavy banana and clove aromas. A dark, slightly cloudy beer with a fresh crisp taste

My favorite flavor was the passion fruit donut with the four bullets brewery, and my second favorite was the red velvet pairing. Overall, I thought this was a very fun and different experience. I think the creators of this event successfully paired two things that don’t usually come together to attract both donut and beer lovers.
